Use Advanced preferences in Terminal to change the emulation and character encoding for a Terminal window profile.

Adjust the settings near the top to modify the window’s title. You can see the results reflected in any currently-open shells running the profile you’re editing. These are only the “greatest hits” of Terminal customization. There is much more you can do to customize your Terminal. Explore the Terminal Preferences menu to. To list the user accounts on an Apple Mac using Terminal: Open Terminal Type in the following command dscl. List /Users grep -v “^” You will be presented with a list of User accounts set up on the Mac. Note: You will be presented with a few accounts additionally which you can ignore.
To change these preferences in the Terminal app on your Mac, choose Terminal > Preferences, click Profiles, select a profile, then click Advanced.
Note: The options you choose in this preference pane apply only to the profile you select. They don’t apply to the Terminal app in general.

Use profiles to customize the colors, font, cursor style, background, and other elements of Terminal windows. A profile is a collection of style and behavior settings for a Terminal window.
Terminal comes with a set of predefined profiles, and you can also create your own custom profiles.

If you removed or changed any of the predefined profiles that came with Terminal, you can add them back to the profiles list with their original settings. You can restore only the entire set of predefined profiles (that is, you can’t restore them individually).

If you customized one of the predefined profiles and want to save your customizations, you need to rename the profile before restoring the predefined profiles. The restore operation overwrites the settings for each of the predefined profiles.
